$24.00–$30.00 per hour, based on experience.

Florida Hot Tub & Sauna Center / The Sauna & Steam Center is seeking an experienced Shop Drawing Technician / CAD Drafter to join our team full-time.
We specialize in the design and construction of commercial and luxury saunas, steam rooms, hammams, salt rooms and specialty wellness environments for hotels, condominiums, fitness facilities, spas and other high-end projects throughout Florida.

Position Overview:
The Shop Drawing Technician will work directly with our project management, sales and construction teams to review commercial construction documents and prepare accurate, professional shop drawings and submittal packages.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with commercial construction drawings, AutoCAD and Bluebeam Revu and understands how to turn architectural plans, specifications, field dimensions, equipment information and project markups into complete shop drawings.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed commercial construction shop drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Review architectural and construction drawing sets.
  • Prepare dimensioned floor plans and room layouts.
  • Prepare reflected ceiling/ceiling plans.
  • Prepare detailed interior elevations and sections.
  • Prepare bench layouts and construction details.
  • Prepare wall-assembly and specialty construction details.
  • Show doors, glass, hardware and jamb conditions.
  • Incorporate equipment locations and manufacturer-required clearances.
  • Prepare equipment-room layouts.
  • Prepare electrical, plumbing and raceway coordination drawings based on information supplied by our team and equipment manufacturers.
  • Coordinate heaters, steam generators, controls, sensors, lighting, drains and related equipment.
  • Review architectural and MEP drawings for discrepancies, conflicts and missing information.
  • Incorporate architect, engineer, GC and Project Manager comments into drawing revisions.
  • Prepare revision clouds and updated submittal packages.
  • Maintain organized CAD files, blocks, details and company drawing standards.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining our standardized CAD/detail library.

Plan Review & Extraction Verification:
Our sales team performs the initial plan extraction for projects. The Shop Drawing Technician will be responsible for reviewing those extractions for completeness and accuracy before shop drawings are prepared.

Responsibilities may include:
  • Review sales-prepared plan extractions to confirm all relevant information has been captured.
  • Review the original construction documents when necessary to verify completeness.
  • Identify missing plans, elevations, sections, details and schedules affecting our scope.
  • Verify relevant dimensions, ceiling heights, wall construction, door conditions, finishes and equipment locations.
  • Review applicable electrical, plumbing and mechanical drawings.
  • Identify conflicts between architectural and MEP documents.
  • Identify missing or conflicting information requiring clarification.
  • Perform additional plan extraction when necessary.
  • Use Bluebeam Revu to review, measure, compare, overlay, mark up and extract construction drawings.
  • Communicate discrepancies or missing information to the appropriate salesperson or Project Manager.

The objective is not to replace the salesperson's initial extraction process, but to provide an important technical quality-control review before the information is incorporated into our shop drawings.

Required Qualifications:
  • Commercial construction shop-drawing experience.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Strong proficiency in Bluebeam Revu.
  • Experience reviewing commercial architectural/construction plan sets
  • Ability to read and understand architectural plans, elevations, sections, schedules and details.
  • Ability to review relevant electrical, plumbing and mechanical drawings

  • Understanding of architectural and MEP coordination.
  • Ability to verify plan extractions for completeness.

  • Microsoft Office.

Preferred:
  • Revit/BIM experience.
  • Procore or similar construction-management platform experience.

Who We're Looking For:
We are not simply looking for someone who knows how to use AutoCAD. We want someone who understands commercial construction drawings.
You should be able to receive architectural plans, project specifications, equipment information, field dimensions and markups and turn them into an organized, accurate shop-drawing package.
Attention to detail is critical.
If two dimensions don't match, we want you to notice.
If the architectural plan conflicts with the MEP drawings, we want you to flag it.
If the initial plan extraction missed an important elevation, detail or requirement, we want you to catch it.
If critical information is missing, we want you to identify it before the drawing is submitted or the project reaches the field.
